About
PJO Seasons Zine is a fanzine featuring activists of year round campers throughout the year, capturing moments of seasonal activities, stories and comics depicting life at camp in each season, and seasonal tips and tricks written by the campers.
Our goal is to create a celebration of the fanart the series inspires and fully appreciate the way fanart can bring our favorite stories to life. This is a charity zine with proceeds going towards a charity selected by moderators prior to applications opening. To capture the diverse fan community, this zine is open to all interpretations of characters unless they directly conflict with a canon identity or character-driven arc. (for example; All Annabeths are loved and appreciated, but Frank is always Chinese-Canadian.)

Zine Details
Format
This will be a physical A5 zine (5.8 in x 8.3 in) with both physical and digital merch.
This is a for-charity zine with proceeds after production and compensation going to Outright International, a global advocate for LGBTIQ inclusion and equality.
Contributors will be compensated with a full physical bundle, including any unlocked stretch goals. With enough pre-orders we hope to also cover the cost of shipping. The rating for this zine is PG-13 and NSFW content will not be allowed. Canon-typical levels of violence are allowed with moderator review.
This zine will be broken into four sections - one for each of the four seasons. Content in each of these sections will vary but is likely to include depictions of camp and activities, stories of traditions told by campers, scrapbook-like pages, and other snippets of life at CHB.Scope, Canon, and Shipping
This zine is focused specifically on the year-round events at for Greek demigods, but Roman demigods are welcome to visit at any time of the year!
This project will be limited to the characters within the Percy Jackson series; PJO, HoO, and ToA with an emphasis on the Greek demigods at camp.
This is a gen project and will focus on general relationships between the characters. While ships are welcome, we ask they are not the main focus on pieces and that contributors stick to canon ships for consistency.
General Contributor Information
Current potential roles available are spot artist, page artist, comic artist and writer. Page and comic artists will have one application, spot artists, writers and merch artists will have separate applications.
Spot Artists will be asked to work with a writer to create pieces to compliment a story or short article. These generally do not require backgrounds.
Page Artists will be asked to create a single page or spread piece with a full background.
Comic Artists will be asked to create a 1-2 page comic of their assigned season.
Writers will be asked to coordinate with a spot artist and write both a seasonal short story and a camper-written article.
Applicants must be at least 16 at the time of applications closing - November 10th 2023.
Applicants may apply for as many roles as they would like, but will be only accepted for a maximum of two
Further details about application requirements can be found in our information document.
Once accepted, contributors will be asked to provide pitches to be approved by the mods to ensure variety in distribution across seasons and avoid duplication.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will applicants need previous zine experience or a specific follower count?
We aim to be inclusive of as wide a range of artists as the logistics will allow. In particular, we will not consider follow count when reviewing applications. Our application will ask for samples of previous work but it does not have to be from previous zine experience.
How many positions can I apply for? Can I be accepted for more than one?
Applicants can apply to as many roles as they'd like, but may only be accepted for a maximum of two.
Can I submit traditional artwork?
Yep! Please make sure you have a method for providing a high-resolution photograph of your work to us for the final version. If you plan on submitting traditional artwork as a contributor please also include at least one sample of traditional art in your application.
Can I share WIPs of my work during the process?
Yes, you can share sneak peeks of WIPs during the creation period, but we ask that you wait until directed by the mods to share the entire piece.
Do contributors have the rights to their work?
If accepted, we expect that you will create new work for this project. However, once the zine has been distributed you retain all rights to your piece.
